If he already knew that his destination was Macedonia, then Troas would have provided the best harbor for going there, and the vision at Troas would only have confirmed that understanding and given it an even stronger sense of urgency (Acts 16:9–10). On the other hand, Luke says that after Paul received the vision, they concluded (Acts 16:10) that they should go into Macedonia. The text here reads as though this is the first revelation of their destination
